For those using 7wt to 9wt rods measuring 12’ and above, the 12’ 168 grain tip is an excellent match. Each sink tip features a dual density design, with the rear half sinking 1 inch per second slower than the front, ensuring a more direct connection to the fly. OPST Line and Tip Recommendation Charts

Commando Heads are shorter, more dense, and have a larger diameter than other skagit lines. Because of their very short length, a much higher proportion of the total line/head length is on the surface of the water in the back-cast, D- or V-Loop, thus providing more line adehsion. This enables you to use a much lighter grain/gram weight when compared to longer skagit heads. As a rule of thumb you can drop the line weight by appx. 5/6 Grams or 75/90 grains when moving to a commando system. Please do not pair OPST lines based on rod manufacturer grain windows, unless it  specified for Commando Heads.
